Conference Friday Night October 19, 2008

Friday night was a great night of hearing God’s word. Jason invited Michael to play music with him at the “surveying the wondrous cross” conference. I want to personally say THANK YOU for the invite. I was truly blessed for going.

The first speaker talked about ” the guilt of man and the glory of God”, Romans 3:21-26. That was a great message. We are guilty and totally undeserving but God gave us this awesome gift.

The second speaker talked about “boasting only in the cross of Christ”, Galatians 6:14. WOW! I was blown away. He did a overview of the book of Galatians, but focused on 6:14. There is no works we can preform to get to heaven. It is a gracious wonderful gift from our creator. Who sent his son here to us to show us how to live and then took our punishment (what we deserve) for us. we can only boast in him. He is the only one who is great around here.

I just really had a great time. What a great way to spend a Friday night ( and the football game cancelled do to rain, so we still get to go to that on Monday). We didn’t go saturday because Michael had to work but I hear Jason has all the sermons on his blog to download. I recommend everyone get them and listen to them. Really they were good.

We also picked up some books that look good. “worldliness, resisting the seduction of a fallen world”, can’t tell who the author is but foreword is by John Piper and edited by C.J. Mahaney. “spectacular sins, and their global purpose in the glory of Christ”, by John piper. last but not least or maybe i should say last and least, a book called “humility, true greatness” by C.J. Mahaney. I have already started reading this book. I started reading it in the car that night on the way home. It looks like a good one. I can only read one book at a time, so I’m sure over the next few month’s I will be posting on these books.

I did this post because I really want you to listen to those sermons. Go to Jason’s blog and get them today. Thanks.
